Sand Island campground is located on the north bank of the San Juan River about 3 miles west of Bluff, Utah, on the south side of Highway 191. The 27-site campground is open year round and is popular with rafters since it's the main put-in for San Juan River trips.
The Sand Island Petroglyph Panel, located on the north end of the campground, includes petroglyphs from 300 to 3,000 years old. The petroglyph panel is on the National Register of Historic Places and is now part of Bears Ears National Monument.
