North-south travel throughout San Juan County is via US 191 which links directly with Interstate 70 at Crescent Junction, eighty miles north of Monticello. Federal designation of US 191 provides excellent north-south transportation through San Juan County as well as increased access to highway maintenance and construction funds. US 191 is a major truck route from I-70 to points south and east.

East-west travel is accomplished via Utah 262 (traveling east) south of Blanding; Utah 95 (traveling west) at Blanding; US 491 (traveling east) at Monticello; and Utah 46 (traveling east) at La Sal Junction of Monticello. Other state and county roads criss-cross the area and access these major routes. A significant network of graded gravel roads is maintained by the county throughout the area.
