This scenic hike can be accessed from both the north and south. For those with lower clearance, the southern trailhead is the better option, while the northern trailhead requires a higher clearance or 4x4/AWD vehicle. The trail begins with a steep uphill climb, but the breathtaking views of massive aspen groves and picturesque pastures make it worth it. During fall aspen season, the scenery is especially stunning.
Keep in mind that the trail can be a bit rough in some spots, and there may be fallen trees to navigate around due to its remote and underused nature. However, for a challenging and rewarding hike with excellent scenery, the Aspen Flat Trail is definitely worth exploring.
