Winter Recreation

The Abajo (Blue) Mountains offer excellent opportunities for cross-country & back country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. A popular access point is located 5 miles west of Monticello at Dalton Springs Winter Trailhead on State Rd. 101/Forest Service Rd. 105. (accessed by turning west on 200 South on the north side of the Monticello Visitor Center)

Approximately 6 miles of groomed cross country ski & snowshoe trails are maintained by the City of Monticello & the Blue Mountain Ski & Snowshoe Club. Groomed trails currently include; Oak Brush, Buckboard Campground, and 70’s Flat Loops.
