San Juan County COVID Grants

San Juan County CARES Grants are funded by county CARES dollars received to assist with off-setting the impacts of COVID-19. These funds are distributed in collaboration with Monticello, Blanding, and Bluff as well as the County Economic Development Board.

From these funds San Juan County has created two grant programs outlined below:

San Juan County CARES Grant - Round 2 (CLOSED)
San Juan County Artisan CARES Grant - October 19th

San Juan County CARES Grant - Round 2

San Juan County and it's partnering cities of Blanding, Bluff, and Monticello are pleased to announce a grant program for small business's negatively affected by COVID-19 with funds received through the CARES act. Funding will range from $1,000 to $10,000 per business. The awarded grant amount will be determined by COVID-19 impact, previous CARES funding, and the number of employees.

GRANT APPLICATION PROCESS

1. Businesses must complete and submit an application - San Juan CARES Grant Application 

2. All questions for the application can be found here -  SJC CARES Grant Question list

3. All applicants must be a registered small business (Less than 250 employees) with an active business license in San Juan County or a partnering city - Monticello, Blanding, or Bluff.

4. Upon completion of the online application you will receive an email confirming receipt of your application with a copy of your application's responses. If you do not receive an email, your application was not received.

5. Applications will be received on a first-come, first-served basis as completed applications are received.

 

REQUIRED APPLICANT DOCUMENTATION

 

Recipients will be responsible for any tax implications of receiving grant revenue.

All San Juan County CARES Grant funds must be expended by Dec 31, 2020.

USU Small Business Development Center

San Juan County Economic Development and Visitor Services partners with USU-Blanding's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to provide business coaching and consulting. As your business is dealing with the challenges of COVID-19, it may be helpful to talk to the SBDC. To set up a meeting contact:

The purpose of this grant is to use local businesses to support local artisans and is post-performance. For every purchase a local business makes towards purchasing art from a local San Juan County artisan, the Artisan Grant will reimburse 50% of the purchase up to $7,000 per business. However, on November 16th the $7,000 match cap will be lifted (pending availability of funds) and businesses will be able to submit for additional reimbursement until November 30th. Art is defined as "fine art and arts & crafts."

$110,000 has been allocated to this grant, with $5,000 set aside to support the Bluff Art Festival to support their virtual festival with artist promotions and artist honorariums.

October 19Pre-Applications OpenThis pre-application is required to participate in the program. Businesses will submit this pre-application requesting the total amount, which can exceed the $7,000 match cap, that they would like awarded. The match request can exceed $7,000 match cap as if there are funds remaining they will be made available. Pre-applications will be accepted first come first served, on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted.
November 16Proof of Purchase DeadlineAs pre-applications are received they will be reviewed and approved for a match amount. Approved businesses will have until Nov 16th to submit their reimbursement requests for guaranteed reimbursement.
November 17Reimbursement Cap LiftedPending the status of funds available this is when the $7,000 cap will be lifted. San Juan County EDVS will review all pre-applications and notify businesses of the additional amount that they will be able to spend.
November 30Grant Program Closes

No applications or reimbursements will be accepted when the grant fund is exhausted or the deadline of Nov 30 - whichever comes first

  • Pre-Application Artisan Grant Question List
  • All applicants must be a registered business with an active business license in San Juan County or a partnering city - Monticello, Blanding, or Bluff.
  • Upon completion of the online pre-application you will receive an email confirming receipt of your application with a copy of your application's responses. If you do not receive an email, your application was not received.

2. Businesses must complete and submit a Reimbursement Form: San Juan County Artisans CARES Grant

**Applications will be received on a first-come, first-served basis as completed applications are received.
